To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give, for each year since 1979, the amount of assistance given by the Scottish Development Agency to private medical projects.

The projects identified above comprise nursing or residential homes where one or more medically qualified staff are involved.

Financial support was provided by way of loan and/or equity as appropriate.

The agency is also active in supporting Scottish companies which provide goods and services in the health care sector; for example, medical instrumentation and drug delivery systems.
