§ Mr. KirkwoodTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make it his policy that responses received to consultative documents issued by his Department be made publicly available by placing these in his Department's library, except where the respondent has specifically asked that this not be done; and if he will arrange for this procedure to be made clear when future consultative documents are issued.
§ Mr. HurdNo. There would be practical difficulties in arranging for inspection in this way in my Department. But in keeping with our policy of promoting greater openness in Government, I shall continue to look for ways in which more information about the work of the Department, and the measures it introduces, can be made publicly available.
