To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what response he has received from the Water Companies Association about the consultation papers relating to how the present structure of statutory water companies will be safeguarded in any future plans for privatisation.

We are discussing with the association its constructive response to the two papers which outline our proposals for the future of the water companies.
