HC Deb 11 March 1988 vol 129 c396W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what is his policy in connection with expectant mothers being asked to take in their own nappies and vaseline when they enter National Health Service hospitals to be delivered.

Mrs. Currie

Responsibility for determining which articles expectant mothers are required to bring with them to hospital rests with individual health authorities. Among these are very often nappies and vaseline. Many expectant mothers welcome this opportunity to use their own belongings during this particular period. It is right that they should do so.
