HC Deb 09 March 1988 vol 129 c264W
31. Mr. Menzies Campbell

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what measures he plans to take to encourage the revival of the British film industry.

Mr. Butcher

The Government maintain the view that the provisions of the Films Act 1985 offer a framework within which the commercial film industry can develop successfully. British Screen Finance Ltd., which received Government funds under the terms of the Films Act, has in just over two years supported over 35 feature and short films. In addition, more than 20 projects have received Government finance under the development scheme managed by the National Film Development Fund.
