HC Deb 04 March 1988 vol 128 c741W
Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether Her Majesty's Government have received any representations from the Irish Government concerning proposals for the scuttling of Royal Navy submarines in the Irish sea; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Chalker

The Irish Government have made representations about the disposal of HMS Dreadnought. No decisions have yet been taken on the preferred disposal route for reactors from decommissioned nuclear sub-marines. A number of options are being considered, including disposal at sea. But there is no question of disposal in the Irish sea.
