§ Mrs. RumboldA total of 609 (24 per cent.) of the Department's 2,541 staff are employed at its Darlington office and a further 577 (23 per cent.) regionally based HMI and support staff are located at divisional and local offices throughout the country. Comparable detailed figures for the location of the 2,635 staff employed in 1979 are not available, but the proportions would be broadly similar.
