§ Mr. MellorMy right hon. and learned Friend had a very constructive meeting with Mr. Kamentsev, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the State Foreign Economic Commission, and also touched on this question in his meeting with Mr. Gorbachev. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to achieving the goal of a 40 per cent. increase in trade by 1990 and my right hon. and learned Friend was able to draw attention to a number of major contracts for which British companies are bidding.
