Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will give the number of YTS trainees who go on to obtain jobs in the same industry within three months of the end of their training.

Information is not available in the precise form requested. The list shows the percentages of trainees who leave YTS and obtain jobs in the same occupational area as that in which they trained. This information is taken from the 100 per cent. follow-up survey of YTS leavers in the period April 1986 to December 1987.

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many of those declining a YTS place had a benefit reduction on grounds of voluntary unemployment for each month between June 1987 and May 1988; and how many of those leaving YTS early had a benefit reduction on grounds of voluntary unemployment for each month between June 1987 and May 1988.
