§ Sir Peter HordernTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) if he will publish a table showing the number of crimes committed with violence per 1,000 population in each police authority area of the country for the latest convenient period;
(2) if he will publish a table showing the number of robberies per 1,000 population in each police authority area of the country for the latest convenient period.
§ Mr. John PattenBecause the numbers of offences are relatively small, numbers of offences are recorded per 100,000 population. Those for 1987 are given in the table. Figures in this form are published annually in "Criminal Statistics, England and Wales" (table 2.6 of the issue for 1986, Cm. 233); the issue for 1987 will be published later this year. Copies of this publication are held in the Library.
