To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent representations Her Majesty's Government has made to South Africa concerning the Sharpeville Six; and if he will make a statement.

Foreign Ministers of the Twelve issued the following statement in Luxembourg on 14 JuneThe Foreign Ministers today discussed the situation in South Africa following the decision by the Supreme Court of Pretoria not to reopen proceedings in the case of the Sharpeville Six. The Ministers expressed their deep distress and concern about the fate of the Sharpeville Six. They urged that all legal options available in South Africa should be used to prevent the death penalty from being carried out. In this connection they drew attention to earlier representations by the European Community.

The German ambassador in Pretoria will be making representations to the South African Government on behalf of the Twelve.
