§ Mr. FearnTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will introduce an independent right of review for disabled persons who are refused assistance by the Independent Living Fund.
§ Mr. ScottThe Independent Living Fund is an independent discretionary trust and it is for the trustees to decide how they will deal with cases which give rise to dissatisfaction. I know, however, that it is their intention to look at such cases very carefully.
§ Mr. FearnTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what plans his Department has to enable the Independent Living Fund to assist with disabled persons' claims after the £5 million provided by the Government has run out.
§ Mr. ScottI am confident that the sum of up to £5 million for the current year will be more than enough. We shall review the level of funding for future years in the light of experience.
