HC Deb 20 June 1988 vol 135 cc408-9W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services, pursuant to his reply of 25 April to the hon. Member for Lewisham, Deptford (Ms. Ruddock),Official Report, column 30, whether the details of the limited participation by the National Health Service in any or all of the military home defence exercises Eastern Shield, Capital Guard, Drake' Drum, Autumn Tiger, Northern Crusade, Western Encounter, Triple Crown, and Strong Link have been finalised; how much such participation is now estimated to cost; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs Currie

The Ministry of Defence has requested limited participation by certain National Health Service authorities in some of these exercises. The extent of any participation which would be on a voluntary basis—has not been decided, and the cost cannot yet be estimated.
