Mr. Leighton

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will provide figures to show how net employment growth in the United Kingdom since 1979 compares with that of other Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development countries when measured on a common basis in terms of full-time equivalents.

Comparative data for employment in terms of full-time equivalents are not available. Figures for net change in total civilian employment in the major OECD countries are as follows.
