§ Ms. QuinTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he will list the local areas, served by the Newcastle and Gateshead water company, which have been supplied with drinking water containing aluminium levels above recommended European Economic Community limits over each of the last five years;
(2) how many people in the Newcastle and Gateshead areas have been supplied with drinking water containing aluminium over recommended European Economic Community limits, for each of the last five years;
(3) he will list for each of the areas which have been given derogations from European Economic Community limits concerning aluminium levels, by how much the European Economic Community limits were exceeded for each of the last five years.
§ Mr. MoynihanThis information is not held centrally. The level of aluminium in drinking water in areas which do not yet meet the standard for aluminium set in the EC drinking water directive is considered acceptable by medical advisers.
