HC Deb 20 June 1988 vol 135 c443W
28. Mr. Andrew Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement as to the amount of room the statutory authorities will need on a train using the Channel tunnel; and whether this will give rise to any special difficulties in rolling stock construction.

59. Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what conditions as to space for their purposes the statutory authorities will impose on British Rail for trains using the Channel tunnel; and whether there will be any special conditions for rolling stock construction.

Mr. David Mitchell

I understand that the Customs and immigration authorities are currently discussing their requirements with British Rail. Any agreed on-train requirements will be taken into account in the specification for the Channel tunnel rolling stock.

31. Mr. Anderson

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what recent representations he has received about the provision of customs and immigration facilities for the Channel tunnel.

Mr. David Mitchell

I refer the hon. Gentleman to the answer I gave earlier today to the hon. Member for Linlithgow (Mr. Dalyell).

54. Mr. Adley

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects to receive from British Rail its report on additional rail routes to the Channel tunnel; and when he expects to publish it.

Mr. David Mitchell

I expect to receive British Rail's report in July, and that it will he published before Parliament rises for the recess.
