HC Deb 17 June 1988 vol 135 c348W
Mrs. Mahon

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what response he is proposing to make to the representations from the National Licensed Victuallers Association urging greater security for tenant licensees in view of the refusal on the part of some landlords to abide by the Brewers' Society code of practice.

Mr. Donald Thompson

I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Leeds, North-West (Dr. Hampson) on 14 June.

Mrs. Mahon

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations he has received from the National Licensed Victuallers Association regarding Grand Metropolitan's proposals to introduce a 20-year lease policy for licensees; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Donald Thompson

The National Licensed Victuallers Association has expressed concern that the proposed 20-year leases appear not to be covered by the provisions of the Brewers' Society code of practice cm tenant security. The matter is being pursued with the Brewers' Society.
