To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will call for a report from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis as to the reasons for the dropping of drugs charges against Mr. Alan Waite, Mr Geoffrey Pope, Mr. Marcel Mullins, Mr. Mark Wittaker, Mr. Paul Brown and Ms. Theresa James.

I understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that, following arrests in 1984, the charges in these cases were dropped in view of doubts about the reliability of police evidence upon which the prosecutions depended.
