Mr. Robin Cook

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if people participating in the adult training scheme will continue to receive any transitional protection they are eligible for on their social security benefits;

(2) if participants finishing their adult training programme and returning to income support will continue to be eligible for transitional protection on their social security benefits.

Mr. Portillo

Claimants participating in the adult training programme will continue to receive transitional protection while participating in the programme. Protection will continue after the programme ends provided they continue to be eligible for income support.
