§ Mr. Flynn
To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what information he has received from Welsh water on the increased levels of acidification of Welsh rivers and its effects on the concentration of aluminium in domestic water supplies.

§ Mr. Grist
No information has been received of any connection between increased acidification of surface waters and the concentration of aluminium in domestic water supplies. Compliance with the requirements of directive 80/778/EEC which includes a maximum limit on the aluminium concentration, is discussed in the water quality report published annually by Welsh water authority.

§ Mr. Flynn
To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the supply outlets of domestic water in Wales that(a) are currently being treated with aluminium sulphate,(b) have aluminium concentration in excess of the European Commission guidelines and (c) are subject to derogations for these and other reasons.
