To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if any consignment of radioactive materials, including medical radio-isotopes, natural uranium, uranium hexafluoride, enriched uranium, plutonium and low, intermediate or high-level nuclear wastes has ever been lost in transit within the jurisdiction of United Kingdom regulatory and safety authorities in any year since 1979.

[holding answer 14 June 1988]: The information is not available for the years 1979 to 1982. I understand that since then industrial or medical isotopes have been lost on six occasions. No other radioactilve materials have been lost in transit.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what has been the annual tonnage for each year since 1979, of spent nuclear fuel licensed for(a) export and (b) import through the ports of Felixstowe, Harwich, Dover, Folkestone, Newhaven, Southampton, Immingham and Barrow, respectively.
