Mr. Cartwright

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) what proposals he is presently considering for major housing development on land at Woolwich Arsenal;

(2) what consultations he has undertaken with the London borough of Greenwich concerning redevelopment of land at Woolwich Arsenal.

The royal arsenal west and royal arsenal east sites are principally occupied by the directorate general defence quality assurance. The future location of the directorate general is under study and, until this has been concluded, we cannot determine what land disposal may be possible on these sites.
