HC Deb 13 June 1988 vol 135 c52W
Mr. Butler

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what information he has on the dangers to native flora and fauna from the accidental import of the Argentine Ant.

Mr. Moynihan

I have been asked to reply.

Incidents of accidental infestations of the Argentine Ant in the United Kingdom are very rare and have been confined to permanently heated buildings. All currently available evidence suggests that the species cannot survive in the wild in the United Kingdom.
