§ Mr. EggarExercise Purple Venture has no relevance to our relations with countries in Latin America. Purple Venture is essentially a paper exercise, although a command and communications element will deploy to Ascension Island. It is a routine command post exercise designed to test command and control procedures. It has nothing whatever to do with the Falkland Islands.
