To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what progress has been made at the United Nations session on disarmament.

Mr. Mellor

The third United Nations special session on disarmament began on 31 May and will end on 25 June. The plenary debate continues until 14 June.

My right hon. and learned Friend delivered the United Kingdom national statement on 7 June and a copy of this has been placed in the Library of the House. We are looking for balanced and constructive discussion of all aspects of arms control and disarmament and look forward to a final document which reflects this.
