To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is the function of the Netway communication system; what is the total cost of procuring the system; and where it will be deployed.

The Netway communication system is being procured as part of the RAF station transport management aid (STAMA), a system for the routine management and operation of vehicles which will be deployed in most RAF stations. The Netway system will be used to provide communications between remote terminals and the computer processor on the larger STAMA installations. The costs of the system are a matter of commercial confidentiality.
