§ Mr. CohenTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) what plans he has to ensure that any new use or disclosure of personal data between participating Departments on the Government data network is subject to prior approval of the Data Protection Registrar;
(2) if he will describe the intended process of authorisation of disclosures of personal data between Departments that may arise following the introduction of the Government data network; and if he will make it his policy to place a copy of any document or future document which describes that authorisation process in the Library.
§ Mr. BrookeThe process of authorisation of disclosures of personal data between Departments is governed by their registrations under the Data Protection Act 1984. Compliance is a matter for the Departments concerned.
