§ Mr. McLeishTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if he will list the training programmes(a) administered by his Department using the Industry Acts and regional assistance provisions, (b) sponsored by the 688W EEC social fund but administered by his Department, (c) sponsored by the Scottish Development Agency and (d) sponsored by the Manpower Services Commission;
(2) if he will give the total expenditure on all aspects of training programmes (a) administered by his Department, (b) sponsored by the EEC social fund, (c) provided by the Scottish Development Agency and (d) provided by the Manpower Services Commission;
(3) if he will give the total amount of expenditure on direct support for industrial training in the current year;
(4) if he will give the total number of (a) vacancies at job centres and (b) vacancies at careers offices in Scotland in each month between January 1987 and June 1988, inclusive;
(5) if he will give the total expenditure of the Manpower Services Commission in Scotland in each of the years 1979 to 1987, inclusive, and for each client group for each function of the commission.
§ Mr. McLeishTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give(a) the total number of places being provided in the new adult training programme in Scotland and (b) an estimate of the number of people participating in the programme in each of the years 1988–89, 1989–90 and 1990–91.
§ Mr. LangWe plan to provide some 41,000 employment training places in Scotland. With an average expected length of stay of 6 months this should mean provision for around 49,000 participants from September 1988 to March 1989, and around 84,000 participants in each of the two subsequent years.
