To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the rate support grant for Scotland(a) in 1978–79 and (b) in 1988–89, in 1988–89 money.

The total of rate support grant for Scotland was £2,232 million in 1978–79 and £2,038 million in 1988–89, both in 1988–89 prices.
