To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he has any plans to seek to visit Iran or Iraq in the wake of the ceasefire; and if he will make a statement.

We welcome the Iranian decision to accept SCR 598, and fully support the efforts of the United Nations Secretary-General to achieve an early ceasefire leading to a comprehensive settlement. This would open the way for the early restoration of security, prosperity and development for both countries and for the whole region.

My right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs has no current plans to visit either Iran or Iraq.
