To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the management consultants commissioned to make recommendations on the setting up of housing action trusts; what is the total cost involved in those commissions; and when he expects their reports to be received.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what is his current estimate of when the first housing action trusts will be set up; and which further local authority areas are currently being considered for future housing action trusts.

Mr. Trippier

Housing action trusts cannot be designated and established until the Housing Bill has received Royal Assent and the necessary orders have been approved by Parliament.

We have no current plans for further housing action trusts beyond those announced by my hon. Friend the then Minister for Housing and Planning on 11 July.
