§ Mr. LeeThe figures in the table are for the Department of Employment group (which includes for this period the Department of Employment, the Training Commission, formerly the Manpower Services Commission, and the Health and Safety Executive), and are based on information provided for the annual review of Government-funded research and development (the latest available figures being for 1986–87). The available information relates to gross expenditure on research and development including that performed elsewhere in central Government, for research and development in total and for social science and humanities.
