HC Deb 26 July 1988 vol 138 c167W
Mr. Campbell-Savours

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the level of pension and the lump sum paid in respect of the previous Lord Chancellor; and what remuneration he receives in his ex-officio capacity as a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary.

Mr. Brooke

Under the terms of the Parliamentary and other Pensions Act 1972, Lord Havers receives a pension of £36,015. Retiring Lord Chancellors do not receive lump sum payments.

Former Lord Chancellors do not receive salaries in respect of their service on the Appellate Committee. They are, however, entitled to a daily fee when they sit. Between November 1987 and February 1988 Lord Havers received a total of £4,760 in such fees.
