To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will outline the problems which have been encountered recently with the turbines and compressor fans of RAF fleet aircraft.

[holding answer 20 July 1988]: A wide range of technical problems can arise during the operation in service of aircraft engines. If the hon. Member wishes to specify any particular problems he has in mind I should be happy to consider a further reply.
