To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list the number of deaths resulting from all industrial accidents in each of the past 10 years.

Notes:

1 1978–80 fatalities include some involving non-employees voluntarily reported.

2 1981–1985 and 1986 (Jan–March) fatalities to employees, the self-employed and the non-employed reported to the Health and Safety Executive or other appropriate enforcing authority under, and as defined in the Notification of Accidents and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (NADOR).

3 Figures for 1981 and 1985 have been recently corrected and vary slightly from previously published figures.

4 Year commencing 1 April 1986 when the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) came into force.

5 Includes the 56 people killed in the Bradford Football Club disaster.
