§ Mr. DobsonTo ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will list for 1979, 1984 and the most recent year the numbers of staff by grade in the statistical divisions in the Duchy offices and the Department of Trade and Industry, respectively; if he will differentiate between staff in the statistical posts and staff in administrative posts; and if he will give separate figures for the Business Statistical Office and the Office of Telecommunications.
§ Mr. Butcher[holding answer 21 July 1988]: Direct comparisons with 1979 are not possible because of changes in the Departments internal structure, the introduction of unified grading, and machinery of Government changes. There are no statisticians in the office of the Duchy of Lancaster. The figures available are as follows:
