§ Mr. FraserTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many citizens of Jamaica(a) have sought entry to the United Kingdom as passengers since January 1987, (b) were refused entry on arrival in each month since January 1987 and (c) made applications in Jamaica for entry certificates in each month since January 1987; and what proportions of applications at (c) were granted or refused entry.
§ Mr. RentonThe following table gives, for each month from January 1987 to the latest available, the numbers of citizens of Jamaica admitted to the United Kingdom and the numbers refused entry and removed. In 1987 a total of 3,099 applications in Jamaica for entry clearance to the United Kingdom were granted (initially or on appeal) and 710 were refused initially; monthly data and the other information requested are not available centrally.
