To ask the Attorney-General what was the total spending by the Law Officers' Department and the Lord Chancellor's Department on press, public relations and advertising, respectively, in 1987–88.

The figures for the Lord Chancellor's Department for 1987–88, excluding staff costs, are as follows:

My own Department, the Law Officers' Department, makes no expenditure on press, public relations or advertising.
