§ Mr. Renton[pursuant to his reply 14 June 1988, c. 97]: The following information has been provided by S4C. The figures supplied are average audience figures for all viewers; separate figures for Welsh speakers are available only for a limited range of programmes. Several single event programmes, as opposed to regularly broadcast programmes, achieved viewing figures considerably higher than those given here. We understand that an average of 366,000 Welsh speaking viewers watched S4C at some point each week during the period January-May 1988.
