§ Mr. WarrenTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the composition of the senior information technology strategy committee in his Department; and how many times in the past year its meetings have been attended by Ministers.
§ Mr. HurdThe senior information technology strategy committee in the Home Office is the Home Office information technology committee, which has the following membership:
- Principal Establishment Officer (Chairman) (grade 2). Principal Finance Officer (grade 3).
- Heads of senior representatives of most of the functional departments, mainly at grade 3 level.
- Head of Research and Planning Unit.
- Head of IT Division.
- Head of Computing and Pay Services.
- A senior representative of the Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency, HM Treasury.
The committee is composed of officials, and Ministers do not attend its meetings: other means exist of bringing information technology matters to ministerial attention.
§ Mr. WarrenTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many of the staff in his Department at grades 1, 2 and 3 have attended courses or training on information technology awareness or management in the last 12 months.
§ Mr. HurdIn the past 12 months, two under secretaries (grade 3) have attended management tutorials in information technology. A deputy secretary (grade 2) and an under secretary have attended general management courses which included sessions on information technology. Other members of staff in the grades in question have attended presentations on specific subjects relating to information technology.
