HC Deb 04 July 1988 vol 136 c426W
Mr. Alan W. Williams

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what studies have been carried out to consider whether the Wellman-Lord regenerative process for flue gas desulphurisation is a viable and feasible option in helping to reduce sulphur dioxide emissions from Great Britain's coal-fired power stations.

Mr. Michael Spicer

I am informed that the Central Electricity Generating Board has, as part of its investigations into flue gas desulphurisation, examined a detailed study of the Wellman-Lord technology. Decisions about its commercial application in power stations are a matter for the CEGB and its successor companies.
