§ Mr. Ian StewartThe review which the MOD is conducting of the results of the investigation which it carried out in 1986 into the fate of captured British service men and the involvement, if any, of the then Lieutenant Waldheim is intended to be as thorough and comprehensive as possible and is being pursued as quickly as is consistent with proper consideration of the evidence and the need for accuracy. While good progress is being made, this is a complex and important matter and the work is not likely to be completed before the autumn.
