HC Deb 26 January 1988 vol 126 c230W
Mr. Robert G. Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement on the security situation in central Belfast.

Mr. Tom King

Security policy in Northern Ireland is continually kept under review and the security forces are determined to prevent the terrorists from carrying out their campaign to disrupt life and destroy property in central Belfast and other major towns. The Provisional IRA carried out a bomb attack at the magistrates' court near the city centre on 9 January. The area had been cleared, damage to property was largely superficial and there were no injuries. The court resumed sitting as usual the following Monday morning.
