To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland when he intends to announce the level of the 1988–89 grant to the Scottish Museums Council.

The Scottish Museums Council will receive notification of a provisional grant allocation for 1988–89 in the next week or so, pending the announcement of the Government's response to the Miles report.

right to add or delete names from the shortlist for the head teacher appointment; power to raise funds for the benefit of the school; control of out of hours use of school premises (but excluding power to set charges); power to set occasional holidays for the school within statutory limits; responsibility for encouraging liaison between parents and school; a duty to report to parents on the board's own activities.

Boards would be able to request that further powers were delegated to them by the education authority. If the authority was unwilling to grant the power request, the board is able to seek parental support in a ballot and if got that support to appeal to the Secretary of State.
