To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many representations he has received in favour of maintaining Air/Sea rescue services as a function of the Royal Air Force.

Mr. Freeman

The Ministry of Defence has received a considerable number of inquiries concerning the future of the United Kingdom SAR service, of which about 45 have expressed support for the continuation of search and rescue helicopter services as a military function.
