HC Deb 26 January 1988 vol 126 cc127-8W
Mr. Martyn Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will increase the finance available to the cardiology service provided by Liverpool health authority for north Wales patients.

Mr. Grist

The Mersey RHA is historically funded to provide cardiac services for patients in north Wales. A review of cardiac services provided by Liverpool RHA is currently under way and its outcome will be discussed with the Welsh Office in due course. In the meantime, in an effort to increase the number of cardiac patients in north Wales being treated, arrangements have been made by Clwyd DHA, with funding from the Welsh Office, for individuals to be referred to a private hospital in Manchester. The need for this arrangement will be reviewed regularly.
