§ Mr. TrippierExpenditure from 15 May 1987, when both urban development corporations were established, to the end of 1987 was £963,700 by Tyne and Wear development corporation and £2,211,800 by Teesside development corporation.

The deputy chairman of Teesside development corporation has since been ennobled and is now Lord Dormand of Easington.
All the posts are part-time. The chairman of Teesside development corporation is paid £18,234 a year on the basis of a time commitment of two days per week. The chairman of Tyne and Wear development corporation is paid £13,676 a year on the basis of a time commitment of 36W one and a half days per week. Both deputy chairmen are paid £6,188 a year on the basis of a time commitment of one day per week. Members are paid at a flat rate of £3,625 a year.
