§ Mr. CummingsTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations he has received from organisations in the county of Durham on competition in the management of local authority sport and leisure facilities; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. MoynihanThe Northern Council for Sport and Recreation is the only organisation based in the county of Durham to have responded directly to the consultation paper which we issued on this subject on 28 September 1987. The local authority associations have of course responded on behalf of their members and many local authorities (but none in Durham) have also submitted comments direct. The paper invited views by 11 December 1987 and all the responses received are now being considered in detail before any final decisions are taken.
