Dr. ThomasTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) what reductions in flying hours in the Royal Air Force fast jet operational training programme are planned over the next three years;
777W(2) if he will place in the Library a copy of the Eustace report on Royal Air Force navigator training;
(3) if he will make a statement on action taken to implement the recommendations of the Eustace report on Royal Air Force navigator training;
(4) if he will place in the Library a copy of the Gibson report on Royal Air Force fast jet operational training, completed in August 1985;
(5) if he will make a statement on action taken to implement the recommendations of the Gibson report on Royal Air Force fast jet operational training, which reported in August 1985.
§ Mr. FreemanThe recommendations of the Gibson report on Royal Air Force fast jet operational training which were made in August 1985 have subsequently been examined and work has started on implementation as appropriate. If all goes to plan, some useful reductions in flying hours should be seen over the next three years. The recommendations of the recent Eustace report on Royal Air Force long-term navigator training are still being considered and no decisions have been taken yet on implementation. Both reports are internal working papers and it would be inappropriate to place copies in the Library.
