HC Deb 21 January 1988 vol 125 cc850-1W
Mrs. Beckett

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the total costs of advertising and administration for the Government campaign of health education on the links between diet, warmth and the dangers of hypothermia.

Mrs. Currie

I assume the hon. Member is asking about the "Keep Warm Keep Well" campaign and I refer her to my reply to the hon. Member for Liverpool, West Derby (Mr. Wareing) on 16 December 1987, at columns598–599.

The cost of the campaign to the Department is now estimated at £610,000. This includes production and distribution of the government booklet, television films, press advertisements, and the telephone helpline. The increase in estimated costs is a reflection of the success of the campaign which has generated more telephone calls to the helpline and more requests for the booklet than was originally anticipated. I will arrange for the hon. Member to receive a copy of the booklet. Copies have already been placed in the Library.
